Kris Bubic posted an 8-2 record with a 0.89 ERA as a junior at Archbishop Mitty High School in San Jose, then improved to a 1.20 ERA with 82 strikeouts in 70 innings as a senior before enrolling at Stanford. At Stanford, he developed from a 0-3 freshman (3.26 ERA in 21 games) to a standout junior posting an 8-1 record with a 2.62 ERA in 2018, earning Pac-12 All-Conference honors after dominating the Cape Cod League with Yarmouth-Dennis (4-1, 1.65 ERA, Pitcher of the Year). Drafted 40th overall by Kansas City in 2018, he signed for $1.6 million and progressed through Idaho Falls (2-3, 4.03 ERA), Lexington (4-1, 2.08 ERA), and Wilmington (7-4, 2.30 ERA) before making his MLB debut in 2020. He provides insight into developing from an undrafted high school pitcher into a major league starter through mechanical refinement and pitch development.
